Cultural Information
Naturalized trees are frm cultivars bred for heavy bloom, not for fruit. Fruit are small and round with seeds that are disbursed by birds and squirrels. Bradford pear is apparently a non-spiny form that is frequently used in landscaping. If the non-spiny type is top killed the spiny form will often resprout from the roots.
Animal Use
Native of Euraisa that has been cultivated and occasionally escapes to thickets, edges of woods, and clearings.
