Field Characters

Closely resembles K. occidentalis which has short wide phyllaries (4.5 by 2.2 mm) and about 12 flowers in its heads, while Krigia virginica has phyllaries that are about 6.6 by 1.2 mm and has about 55 flowers in each head.

Cultural Information

The seeds of most species of Krigia may be planted fresh (Steffen 1997).
