Field Characters

Jointed flatsedge is a colonial, coarse, tall perennial sedge with reddish, scaly rhizomes. It has very distinctive round to roundish triangular, distinctly jointed stems. Only flatsedge with round, hollow stem separated internally by thin partitions that are visible externally as faint rings. Leaf sheath purplish.

Habitat

Marshes, moist clay meadows.
