Field Characters

Flowers resemble those of H. autumnale but only have one to three flower heads per plant while H. autumnale has up to 30. The leaves are usually missing from the upper stem on H. drummondii and are present on H. autumnale. Helenium drummondii and H. autumnale may be confused with Gaillardia aestivalis which has inflorescences with purple centers (disk flowers) while those of Helenium are yellow.
