Field Characters
Wide leaf 0.5- 1 inch across, edge smooth, keel on back of leaf. Similar to Phragmites- has a denser inflorescence and stiff, straight leaf blades.
Animal Use
Fair forage for cattle, ducks, and geese after marshes are burned in the fall.
Habitat
Salt or brackish marshes.
