Animal Use

This is a favorite nesting tree for birds and the flowers attract hummingbirds. Larval host for the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and the Tuliptree silkmoth. Is a special value to honeybees. Sprouts are a staple deer browse. Seeds are used by squirrels in early fall and again in mid-winter.
