Natural History

An invasive weed, abundant in disturbed areas in the southern half of Louisiana and Texas. It is a serious pest of sugarcane in south Louisiana. It also occurs in Florida and tropical Asia. Because of its course habit and vigorous growth itch grass may have the potential of invading relatively undisturbed plant communities.
