Field Characters

Resembles the flat-topped goldenrods (Euthamia), which differ in that they have many leaves on the stems and the flowers have rays present. Also similar to Bigelowia nudata which has larger stem leaves than B. nuttallii.

Natural History

Infrequent in open sandy places, gravelly clays, and rock outcrops in east Texas and the western parishes of central Louisiana. It is rare in southeast Texas and the northern range of coastal prairie in Louisiana. Ranges across the Coastal States from North Carolina to Texas.
