Field Characters
An erect or sometimes sprawling perennial grass that is much branched. Its stem leaves are 5-10 cm long and 1-2 cm wide and clasp the stem at their base. Its leaf sheath is purplish with hairy margins and an 0.5 mm long ligule. Clasping leaf base. Leaf 0.5-1" wide. Leaf sheath hairy. Look alike: D. Boscii- more than 1" wide.
