Field Characters

Similar to Teucrium canadensis, which is taller (about 1 m) and has leaves that are 6-10 cm long with silvery hairs underneath. Has distinct elongated white tubers.

Natural History

Found in moist, sandy soils throughout south Louisiana and southeast Texas.

Habitat

Wet sandy soils, roadsides, thickets, shrub borders.

White tubers can be eaten raw or cooked.
