Field Characters

2 types of leaves. involcre entered here. Basal leaves: segments usually 3, 10-30mm long & wide, lobed and crenate, laciniate or sometimes ternate with serrate leaflets, largest blades 20-50 mm wide.

Cultural Information

Seed planted fresh in the fall after it was collected showed poor and slow germination. Howeveer, when stored at room temperature and planted in the spring, germination was 40-90% (Nichols 1934). Seed germination reported to improve with cold/moist stratification (Steffen 1997). There are approximately 600,000 seed/lb.
