Field Characters

Members of the genus Stylisma may be confused with members of the genus Evolvulus. Stylismas have globose to flat-topped stigmas that are as broad as they are long, while Evolvulus have linear or oblong stigmas that are over twice as long as they are broad.

Natural History

A rare plant in Louisiana and Texas. In Louisiana's coastal prairie it was known from only one railroad remnant that has since been regarded for drainage. Found in sandy, open ground, especially in damp places, from North Carolina, south to Florida and west to Texas.
