Field Characters

Species of the genus Eragrostis are quite similar to species of the genus Muhlenbergia. They may be differentiated by the fact that Mublenbergias has one floret at the end of each rachis while Eragrostis has many. Members of the genus Eragrostis also usually have wider leaves.

Natural History

Found infrequently in disturbed areas in the southern part of Louisiana. Its range is listed as Louisiana, Florida, and Alabama. It is also found in Brazil (Allen 1992).
