Animal Use

Yellow bluestem is avoided by livestock if palatable alternatives are available.

Habitat

Along roadsides and in waste ground and rangeland pastures.

Plant Uses

It is used for pasture, hay, seed crop, over seeding of depleted rangeland, soil conservation work in gulleys, waterways, and bank stabilization. It invades both grazed and ungrazed sites.
