Field Characters

Bulbostylis capillaris and B. ciliatifolia are similar in habit, both with open paniculate inflorescences but the seeds of B. capillaris are yellow to brown with wavy ridges while those of B. ciliatifolia are waxy gray and covered with pimples.

Natural History

Threadleaf beakseed occurs infrequent in sandy soils of east Texas and Louisiana. It ranges from Arizona and New Mexico through the Gulf States and is reported from California.

Sandy fields and meadows.
