Field Characters

Bulbostylis capillaris and B. ciliatifolia are similar in habit, both with open paniculate inflorescences but the seeds of B. capillaris are yellow to brown with wavy ridges while those of B. ciliatifolia are waxy gray and covered with pimples.

Habitat

Sandhills, sandy marine and alluvial terraces. Uncommon in periodically wet sandy soil of open woods and hillsides.
