Field Characters
Leaflets 7 - 20 pairs, oblong, 6 - 15 mm long. Flowers solitary or 2-3 together. Each leaf is made up of numerous small, yellow-green leaflets which fold together when touched. Similar to Chamaecrista fasiculata but with smaller flowers.
Animal Use
Nutritious and readily consumed by livestock.
Habitat
Dry sandy soil, upland woods, prairies, thickets, wet or dry shores, dunes, disturbed habitats.
