Field Characters
May be confused with Quercus acutissima (sawtooth oak) which is planted for white tailed deer. Sawtooth has a one seeded acorn while chestnuts have 3-4 nuts in each fruit.
Cultural Information
Grow in moist, well-drained soils in full sun. It is tolerant of summer heat and humidity. Established trees do well in dry conditions. Planting more than one tree facilitates cross-pollination and generally produces a more abundant nut crop.
