Cultural Information

Seeds of species in the genus are reported to need no treatment and are best planted fresh. They are reported to require light for germination and should be planted on the soil surface (Steffen 1997).

Natural History

Found frequently in moist, sandy loam soils throughout Louisiana and east and southeast Texas. "Paille d'oie" and "paille des oie" are both Acadian names for all members of the genus Scirpus (Holmes 1990).
